Research Interest:

During my undergraduate studies I was interested in clinical research about orofacial pain and dental materials.

In my PhD I am interested in fundamental science related with pain, particularly how can it start from the periphery until central sensitization. Concretely, my PhD work is focus in the role of Cdk5 in cellular and molecular mechanism of dental pain and its neurobiological mechanism of central sensitization.

In this context, I am studying the molecular mechanism of Cdk5 and its activators in primary cultures of odontoblast and trigeminal neurons, but also the molecular events that occurs in trigeminal ganglia and trigeminal subnucleus caudalis (Sp5C). To answer these questions I am using inflammatory models and immunohistological, molecular biological, electrophysiological and behavioural approach in mice and rats. This results will contribute to better understanding of Cdk5 characterization in different cells types, related with painful signaling from periphery to central nervious system, but also new terapheutical approachs.

Technical expertise:

- Cell Culture

- Immunostaining

- Molecular Biology

- Ex vivo electrophysiological patch-clamp recording of neurons

- Optical and confocal fluorescence microscopy

- Animal behavioural tests (nociceptive and emotional behaviours)
